On April19th, our dear sweet Yukon had to be put down, due to illness. The year and 11 days we had with him , we will always cherish. We miss and loved him very much.

Alana the baby is coming

After months of prep. by Mom and Dad for her arrival. Alana is coming home from the hospital. I have been listening to a CD of baby noises, and I have been going for walks with the stroller. We will see how it goes.

A note from Yukon:
I recently had a nice visit with pet psychic Diane Roadcap. I told Diane that I was an outdoor dog and was chained up most of my young life. I really do not like things around my neck. I also told her that I know I will never have to worry about going hungry again and I love my new name Yukon. I'm trying really hard to live up to my parent’s expectations and their old English Setter, Katie's standards - she was 'cream of the crop'! I'm a quick learner and I know I'll figure out what they are telling me.

A note from Mommy and Daddy:
Yukon came to our family afraid of everything and everyone except for the cats. He has come so far in the seven months that he's been with us. He loves to go for walks and he now sits before he gets his breakfast and dinner and is working hard on the stay command. He's just starting to come out of his shell and is learning how to play! Right now his play time consists of us giving him a chewy rawhide and he takes it down one of the hallways and drops it off and then he comes running back to us to have us go get it for him. He's a really handsome boy and is such a pleasure to have around the house.

Baby Cat passed away over the summer, his kidneys finally gave in to his diabetes. Yukon told Diane that he was the 'nasty cat'. As soon as Yukon walked in the door, Baby Cat gave him a good swat on the nose and he never got to close to Baby Cat again. Since Baby Cat passed away, our two youngest cats, Onslow and Demi, have been spending much more time playing and socializing with Yukon. Onslow gives him kisses when he sees him and Demi now lets Yukon smell her cute little rear end!

This is one of Yukon’s favorite pastimes……

Yukon is such a good boy. He recently completed basic doggy obedience and he was also awarded best dog in class!

Mommy and Daddy are so proud of him.

"I'm working very hard on sitting and staying. I still have a little trouble with down, but I'm trying very hard."

June 19, 2006 - Yukon goes to class!

Yukon started obedience classes last week and has a new doggy friend, Shelby. She's a golden retriever and is just under a year old. There are about ten doggies in the class.

"I've been working very hard on the heal command... I think I've just about got it.. but I really do not like to sit at all... that's just too much work"

Yukon's family consists of 'daddy', 'mommy', 'grandma', and four kitties, Baby Cat, Kitty Kitty, Demi, and Onslow. Baby Cat and Kitty Kitty like Yukon most of the time, niether of them grew up with a dog. Demi and Onslow are still not too sure about Yukon. They were both found as kittens and grew up with Katie, our old English Setter who passed away in March.

Yukon joined the Furst family on April 8, 2006. He came from the Eastern Shore Animal Rescue League in Chesapeake City Maryland.
